One of the city’s oldest food shops, Procacci, is to be found in the centre of Florence in the famous via de’Tornabuoni, overlooked by some of the city’s most important buildings. This street was once full of prestigious craftsmen but is now the realm of famous designers; yet Procacci remains at its same historical address, its style unaltered.
Procacci was founded as a company in 1885. Its heritage of history, art and crafts soon made it famous among the Florentines for truffle-based food products. Procacci’s panini tartufati are still an institution to this day.
In 1925 it received the Royal Coat-of-Arms from King Victor Emmanuel III, with the Royal patent. Inside the shop the cool, sober atmosphere of early 20th century Florence is preserved unchanged by the unmistakeable aroma of truffles, the walnut shelves and Liberty-style green marble counter. The shop is also a shrine to Tuscan wines, with a cellar of prestigious bottles and a rare, top quality selection of fine foods.
These specialities are mainly based on old recipes with authentic flavours. A new line of products has recently been introduced: Procacci olive oil has now been joined by a selection of pâtés and Tuscan game sauces, and a selection of jams made from selected fruits. The shops shelves are stocked with other exclusive products, as complete a range as possible to satisfy the most exacting gourmets and the most sophisticated palates.
