ACCADEMIA ANTINORI

Accademia Antinori
Symposium glassware and wineglasses
in the Aegean-Cypriot collections of the Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Florence
Palazzo Antinori, Florence
December 3rd 2007 - January 30th 2008

This exhibition, just one of the projects promoted by the Accademia Antinori, includes the display of a fascinating collection of symposium glassware and wineglasses used by the Aegean-Cypriot civilisations (Greece, the Cyclades, Rhodes, Cyprus) as long ago as 1500 B.C.

This is the first time the Accademia Antinori has come close to objects with such ancient origins, but this extensive archaeological collection seems to assert our historical connection with vine plants and wine, demonstrating a still up-to-date function and highlighting the continuity of wine culture since ancient times, up to the present day.
