On last May 7th, the Le Mortelle estate officially opened its doors to various of its most important customers, offering them the possibility to visit the new cellars and to tour the vineyards in vehicles offered by Porsche, all to accompany a splendid setting and a pleasurable and relaxing picnic with a view over the estate’s lake.
A day in the country enjoyed in a simple and familiar style during which we presented the first (the 2009) vintage of our new “Poggio alle Nane” wine, produced from the finest Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes of the estate’s vineyards.
An opportunity to taste other wines as well, among them “Vivia” and “Botrosecco”, and to offer our customers the organic fruit and vegetables of the current growing season, produced at our estate and in other bordering properties.
For the picnic we hosted a local chef, Massimo Bucci, a friend of Le Mortelle, who presented the flavors of this territory in a series of the typical dishes of Tuscan Maremma cuisine.
Among the various cheese and salami offerings and the different types of bread, a particular favorite was a white roll placed on a fig leaf and stuffed with a sauce of sausage and lardo boiled in a terracotta pot: a true delight for the taste buds and a perfect match with our wines.
